Foreign citizens wishing to enter the Republic of Korea visa-free are required to obtain a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) before boarding a plane or vessel. Important: If a K-ETA application is submitted after boarding or upon arrival in the Republic of Korea, it may be rejected. This may result in denial of entry or other adverse consequences. K-ETA application must be completed in advance, before the start of the trip.
Decisions on issuing a K-ETA are made exclusively by authorized South Korean authorities. Payments are non-refundable if a K-ETA is denied.
Application processing typically takes up to 72 hours. However, depending on the number of applications submitted and the applicant's individual situation, the processing time may exceed 72 hours. We recommend submitting your application early to avoid any risks before your trip.
K-ETA is valid for 3 years from the date of approval or until the passport expires (if the passport is valid for less than 3 years) and allows multiple entries. The length of stay per trip depends on the applicant's citizenship. Before traveling, check the permitted length of stay for your country of citizenship. Important: If your travel details (purpose of visit, residential address, contact phone number, entry/exit dates, or details of accompanying persons) change after receiving your K-ETA, you must update them in the K-ETA system before entering the country. Failure to do so may result in denial of entry.
Receiving an approved K-ETA does not guarantee entry into South Korea. The final decision is made by the immigration officer at the border crossing. If your K-ETA contains false or inaccurate information, your K-ETA may be rejected or revoked at any time. This may also result in a ban on entry or other liability under the laws of the Republic of Korea.
